Premier League: Liverpool call press conference for Friday morning with Klopp expected to be unveiled

Jurgen Klopp is widely expected to be named as Liverpool's new manager by the end of the week.

There has been plenty going on at Anfield today, with former manager Brendan Rodger's backroom staff either leaving the club or in the case of Gary McAllister, being offered an alternative role.

Rodgers was sacked on Sunday after three years at the club, with a 1-1 draw in the Merseyside derby his final game in charge.

The club released a statement saying "Liverpool Football Club can confirm a press conference will be held at 10am BST on Friday morning at Anfield for a major club announcement."

The German will agree the terms of his deal, which is believed to be three years, on Thursday evening, before being unveiled by the club on Friday morning.

Klopp has been out of work since May, after leaving Borussia Dortmund following seven seasons in charge in which he won two league titles and reached the Champions League final.
