Premier League: Louis Van Gaal called a journalist 'fat man' at press conference following draw with Newcastle

Louis Van Gaal's relationship with the English media is under scrutiny once more after he called one journalist 'fat man' as he left his post match press conference.

The Manchester United manager saw his side draw 3-3 with Newcastle in a thrilling match at St James Park on Tuesday evening, being denied three points by a last minute goal from Magpies defender Paul Dummett.

United's best player by far was captain Wayne Rooney, who scored twice and set up the other goal to follow on from his winning penalty in the FA Cup win over Sheffield United at the weekend.

The form of Rooney has been a widely discussed topic this season, with questions being asked as to whether he was the player he once was, having not hit the scoring form of recent years.

Van Gaal was asked about Rooney at his press conference after the game, and seemingly was angered that he was still being questioned about his skipper, replied “We don’t speak about Wayne Rooney, you have criticised him. I don’t, you.”

He then got up to leave and as he walked out, pointed over to one journalist specifically and said 'You too, fat man, there.'

The journalist in question is believed to be a reporter for The Sun newspaper, and the incident comes just weeks after the Dutchman walked out of a pre match conference before his side's defeat to Stoke.

He fielded two questions before leaving, simply telling journalists to 'enjoy the mince pies and the wine'.
