Premier League: Pressure grows on Paul Lambert as Aston Villa lose to relegation rivals Hully City

Aston Villa fans held a 'Lambert Out' banner at the KC Stadium on Tuesday evening as they watched their side slip to another Premier League defeat.

Villa were beaten 2-0 by fellow relegation rivals Hull with goals from Nika Jelavic and new signing Dame N'Doye, a defeat which leaves Villa in the relegation places.

Whilst the battle to avoid the drop is tight, with only five points seperating Villa from 12th placed Everton, Villa's recent performances, and in particular their stark lack of goals, has led to severe criticism of manager Lambert from the club's fans.

And their unrest was there for all to see at full time when some fans unveiled a 'Lambert Out' banner. Villa have now scored fewer goals than any side in Premier League history at this point in the season, and have only scored twice in their last ten Premier League matches.

Speaking after the match, Lambert said that he was 'aware' of the fan's feelings, but has vowed to fight on, despite fresh calls for him to leave the club.

Villa's remaining fixtures will give Lambert some hope given that they play the majority of their relegation rivals in the run in, but they also face tricky ties away at the likes of Tottenham and both Manchester clubs.
