Premier League side West Ham set to appoint Slaven Bilic

West Ham have confirmed that they will be announcing the appointment of their new manager today, with Slaven Bilic widely expected to be named.

The club posted on their official Twitter account: “Breaking news on the appointment of the new West Ham United manager will follow soon on whufc.com! Stay tuned!"

Bilic is a former West Ham player, having played 50 times for the club and is available after leaving Turkish club Besiktas at the end of the season.

He will replace Sam Allardyce who left after the end of his contract at the end of the season, following months of speculation about whether he would be offered, or indeed sign, a new contract.

The Hammers made a great start to the season and were in the top four going into the Christmas period, but as uncertainty about Allardyce's future grew, the team's form on the pitch dropped off in the second half of the season.

The club's main priority ahead of next season is to ensure that they will still be in the Premier League next year, which is when they will make their move to the Olympic Stadium, as well as a huge increase in television money for being in the top flight.
