Premier League: Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet critical of club's transfer policy

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has implied that his role as 'head coach' does not include dealing with the club's transfers.
Speaking to the press ahead of the Tyne-Wear derby this weekend, Poyet wanted to clarify his role at the club.
"I am a head coach," Poyet told reporters.
"I am not going to be a head coach when it suits and a manager when it doesn't. That side is down to recruitment."
"I want more quality. Do I think I'll get it? I don't know," he continued.
"You know what is missing. It is clear what we need to do. That is down to recruitment."
"So, if you ever get the chance to speak to anyone on the recruitment side and ask them about it, you are lucky. If you don't, don't ask me."
Poyet has spoken for some time about his frustration in the transfer market, depsite signing the likes of Jack Rodwell and Jordi Gomez in the summer.
The Black Cats have drawn nine games so far this season in the Premier League, with five of those 0-0 draws, and have only won once in their last eight matches.
Poyet's comments about the club's transfer policy may raise similar questions as to who actually sanctions player signings as when former manager Paolo Di Canio was in charge.
He made a number of signings last summer having kept Sunderland up the previous season, but how much say he had on the players brought in was never fully explained.
