Preston fans celebrate return to Championship

Prestons' 4-0 hammering of Swindon in the League 1 play-offs on Sunday saw Simon Grayson's side return to the Championship after a four year gap.

Grayson became the first manager to get four teams promoted from League 1 to the Championship (Leeds, Huddersfield and Blackpool were the other three).

In front of 48,000 fans Preston were emphatic winners laying a play-off hoodoo at the tenth attempt.

The reaction back in Preston has been tremendous with supporters calling for a civic reception to mark the teams achievements.

When Preston last won promotion under David Moyes in 2000, there was an open top bus ride from the ground followed by a civic reception in Preston.

The club and the City Council were keeping tight lipped today about the possibility.
