Preston North End announce betting firm as new shirt sponsor
As the official main club sponsor, 888sport will benefit from branding on all first team playing kits and adult replica shirts for the Lancashire-based football team, which plays in the Championship, the second tier of the English football league system. 888sport replaces Virgin Trains as the club’s main shirt sponsor.
The operator has also given all non-first team kit sponsorship rights and junior replica kit to the club’s official charity partner Rainbow House.
Preston North End’s chief executive John Kay said that the club was looking forward to working with 888sport, its new principal sponsor, whose name will adorn the playing shirts in 2016/17.
“We'd also like to thank 888sport for agreeing to have Rainbow House on the junior kits,” he said.
The team will wear the new kit for the first time this weekend, with friendly games on Friday night at Bamber Bridge and Saturday at Chorley. The first friendly game at its home stadium at Deepdale takes place on Saturday July 23rd against Premier League side Stoke City.
Preston North End FC was a founding member of the Football League and completed the inaugural season unbeaten to become the first league champions, while also winning the FA Cup to become the first club to achieve the English football "Double".
That was during the 1888/89 season however. Its most recent major trophy success was an FA Cup victory in 1938. Last season the club finished in 11th place in the Championship.
