Rangers set to name new boss by Friday

Murray told fans at the North American Rangers Supporters Association annual convention in California that the Ibrox regime intend to unveil their chosen candidate on Friday.
The announcement is set to coincide with a general meeting called by Mike Ashley where shareholders will be asked to vote on whether the club should repay his £5million loan.
Former Brentford manager Mark Warburton remains the favourite, though ex-Ibrox boss Alex McLeish and current gaffer Stuart McCall could also be in the frame along with Vitor Pereira (pic), currently with Greek Champions Olympiakos,
Rangers’ managerial target only took over at the Karaiskakis Stadium in January and, despite leading the club to their 42nd championship, Pereira’s stint in Greece is set to end this month.
Club bosses were furious to learn that their manager had not only spoken to Rangers but had even travelled to Scotland for talks with the Ibrox board.
He helped the Piraeus club storm to the title by 12 points from Panathinaikos but cracks had already appeared between him and the board over future funding.
