Salford City receive planning permission for new stadium

Salford City have been given permission to demolish their current Moor Lane Stadium and build a new 5,000 capacity stadium

Former Manchester United players and club owners, Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs, represented the club at the planning permission meeting at the council.

The plans, which are expected to cost around £5 million, were met with a number of objections from local residents  One of main objections from the local residents was that the new stadium would lead to an increase in traffic and noise around the area as well as there being insufficient parking near the stadium. Despite these objections the planning committee passed the plans and gave permission for the ground to be built.

After the meeting Neville said "The hard work starts here. We have heard the local community issues and now we must deliver on the promises we have made."
