Sam Allardyce steps down as England manager after controversy
Sam Allardyce has stepped down as England manager by mutual consent after the investigation by the Telegraph that claimed he offered them advice on how to side step play transfer rules.
When speaking to press outside his home he said "Unfortunately it was an error of judgement on my behalf. I've paid the consequences. Entrapment has won on this occasion and I have to accept that."
The FA have branded his actions as "inappropriate" in a statement last night when it was confirmed that Allardyce's contract was cancelled by mutual consent.
Gareth Southgate will take over the national team for the newt four games and Allardyce has wished Southgate, the players and staff "all the best".
