Shares in construction firm jump on news of Liverpool contract

Structural steel company Severfield PLC on Thursday said it has won six new contracts totalling £43 million in value. Severfield said it has won an appointment as the steelwork contractor for the expansion of the Main Stand at Liverpool Football Club's Anfield ground. They have partnered up with main contractor  Carillion PLC on the project.

It has also won five other contracts, including three commercial office developments in London, a major distribution centre deal in the Midlands, and a waste-to-energy plant in Dublin.

"We are delighted to announce these multiple contract wins. It continues the momentum we've established in recent months, and all of these new contracts are in sectors where we have a strong market share or are seeing positive future trends," said Severfield Chief Executive Officer Ian Lawson.

Severfield shares were up 5.0% to 66.65 pence on the news, one of the best performers in the FTSE All-Share.
