Southampton extend university partnership

Southampton FC have extended their deal with local partner Southampton Solent University for an extra two years.

The university will continue as Southampton's official university partner. The partnership means they will now become a partner of Southampton’s new Regional Talent Club.

The Regional Talent Club is a developmental programme brought in by the Football Association. The programme helps Premier League clubs to set up and nurture four women’s age-group teams.

Solent University will assist the teams and share sports science and performance analysis with them. In addition they will be given branding on their matchday shirts.

Furthermore, the four teams, that will work through this programme, will be granted priority access to the Test Park sports ground at the university two times a week.

Southampton FC’s chief executive Gareth Rogers said "we are delighted to welcome Southampton Solent University as a partner of our FA Regional Talent Club,”

He added “Since its launch, the programme has continued to go from strength to strength, with a number of girls receiving international recognition, and that’s in no small part down to the support of Solent.”
