Sports Traider the national sports charity launch Stoke shop

 Football News 24/

June was a landmark month for Sports Traider the UK's leading Sportswear Charity as they opened yet another store - this time in Stoke.- to be precise the Potteries Shopping centre in Hanley.

Established in 2009 by Lance Haggith, BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award Winner 2010 (Unsung Hero), Sports Traider is focused on providing  children the kit and equipment they need to get into sport. Also provide sporting opportunities in run down areas where young people can partake free at point of access. Where we currently provide such provisions we find a drop in anti-social behaviour.

Their  mission is to break down barriers, be they socio, economic or health-related, thereby enabling children (and increasingly their parents and family), to get involved in sport and reap the benefits associated with achievement, goal setting, teamwork and general well-being.

It's a great concept as they collect all unwanted sportswear and equipment from schools, colleges and Universities and the public, plus take the surplus stock donated from our friends in the sports manufacturing sector and give it free to those young people that can not afford to buy such items, and also sell some very cheaply via our growing number of retail outlets.

All the profits raised from the sale of these goods goes into providing sports-related outputs primarily for children domiciled within the catchment of our outlets (and other fundraising programmes). Where a hop is located we ask people to help us to help your community.

The news Stoke outlet in the Intu Potterries Shopping centre joins Bedford, Gloucester, Nottingham, and Loughborough

Sports Traider  work with volunteers to run the shop, these volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds, be it long term unemployed, they may have a disability or long term health issues,  or may have offended in the past and want a second chance. The Charity give them the support and confidence they need to tackle new challenges.
