Stacey Cartwright has been nominated to join The Football Association Board and Council as an Independent Non-Executive Director, succeeding Roger Devlin.

In a business career spanning over 20 years, Stacey has most recently held the role of Deputy Chairman/Chief Executive at Harvey Nichols for four years. Prior to that she was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Burberry for nine years, Chief Financial Officer at Egg for four years and held various finance roles at Granada. She has also served as a non-executive on the Boards of GSK and Liverpool Football Club.

The FA Board unanimously endorsed Stacey’s recommendation and the Council will be asked to formally approve the appointment during its meeting on 18 April. If successful, Stacey will officially join the Board in June and replace Roger Devlin, who is due to step down in May having served a second three-year term, as the Senior Independent Non-Executive Director.

Stacey Cartwright said: "I am delighted to have been recommended for The Football Association’s Board and Council. Whilst steeped in history and tradition, the organisation is making significant strides to modernise its approach. I firmly believe that there has never been a more exciting or important time to be involved in the governance of football in England."

Greg Clarke, The FA Chairman, said: "Not only is Stacey well qualified for the position, she absolutely loves football. Subject to Council ratification, I look forward to welcoming her to The FA. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Roger, whose excellent contributions over the past six years have helped shape the finances, strategy and future of English football."

Subject to Council approval, from June 2018 The FA Board will comprise:

  • Greg Clarke – Independent Chairman
  • Martin Glenn – Chief Executive Officer
