Sunderland's Dick Advocaat looks set to be replaced by former West Ham boss



Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat says he has made a decision on his future, but refused to confirm whether he will be in charge of the team for their next game against West Brom on 17 October.

Reports on Saturday suggested he would quit, having joined the team in March.

"I've made a decision," he said after the draw with West Ham, on Saturday.

Earlier, he said: "Today I am the manager. What will happen in next days, weeks and months, I cannot say."

Asked whether he will be manager for the next game after the international break, he added: "I cannot say that. The newspapers must have something to write otherwise there is nothing in the newspapers."

Advocaat, 68, was appointed in March with the club one point above the relegation zone.

He guided them to Premier League safety and was due to leave the club, only to change his mind and sign a one-year deal.

However, Saturday's 2-2 draw with West Ham left Sunderland without a win in eight games, five points from safety second bottom of the Premier League.

Former West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce looks set to be the leading contender to replace Advocaat accorsing to the Sunday times. This despite the fact that Allardyce distanced himself from the job back in April and then again in August.

The 60-year-old has been out of work since leaving Upton Park in the summer, but has shown himself to be a reliable manager at this level for many years now.
