Swansea City sack Bob Bradley as ex Man United legend Ryan Giggs linked with post

Former USA national coach Bob Bradley has lasted just 85 days in charge of Swansea City.

The American has paid the price for taking just eight points from his 11 games in charge, the final straw for the club's American owners being Saturday’s 4-1 hammering by West Ham at the Liberty Stadium.

Alan Curtis and Paul Williams have been placed in temporary charge, with Frank de Boer and Welsh duo Ryan Giggs and Chris Coleman early names being linked as possible successors.

Giggs was interviewed twice before Bradley got the job, and although bringing the Manchester United and Wales legend to the Liberty would go down well with fans, he may be put off by the experiences of his old team-mate Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, who lasted nine months at Cardiff.

Bradley was appointed in October after the club dispensed with the services of Francesco Guidolin. But the former USA manager failed to bring about an improved run of form with the defeat to the Hammers leaving them second bottom and four points from safety. They conceded three or more goals in eight of his 11 games in charge.

“We are sorry to lose Bob after such a short period of time,’’ said Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins. “Unfortunately things haven’t worked out as planned and we felt we had to make the change with half the Premier League season remaining.

“With the club going through such a tough time, we have to try and find the answers to get ourselves out of trouble.

“Personally, I have nothing but praise for Bob. He is a good man and a good person who gave everything to the job. We wish him well for the future.”

Bradley’s departure means Swansea are now searching for their third manager this season, summing up the club’s campaign to date.
