Tottenham receive permission to play at Wembley

Tottenham are a step closer to playing home games at Wembley next season after Brent Council accepted their planning application.

The club have now got permission to host 27 matches with the stadium at a full capacity of 90,000 with Brent Council approving the application by a majority of five to one.

Local residents were given a chance to air their views at the meeting, which lasted over three and a half hours.

The now have until 31st March to activate their option to play at Wembley.

The club are likely to use all the available time to decide and assess whether their new stadium will be completed in time for the start of the 2018-19 season. If the new ground won't be ready in time the club could stay at White Hart Lane next season and play home games at Wembley in during the 2018-19 season and then move into the new stadium for the 2019-20 season.
