Tottenham sign off from White Hart Lane in style
Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester United in the last ever match to be played at White Hart Lane.
Goals from Harry Kane and Victor Wanyama saw Tottenham win the final match to be played at their 118 year old home. The club will temporarily move to Wembley for one season next year before their new stadium is scheduled to open for the start of the 2018/19 season.
England and Manchester United captain will go down in the history books as the final player to score at White Hart Lane with a late consolation goal.
Tottenham fans invaded the pitch at the end with many fans taking advantage to gain a memento in the form of a picture on the pitch and some fans took some grass from the pitch.
After the fans returned to their seats a farewell video was shown to fans with former Tottenham legends entering the pitch for one last time. Demolition work has already begun on the stadium with diggers ripping up the pitch to get it ready for the new stadium to be built.
It is hoped that the new stadium will be ready for the start of the 2018/19 season but if the work was to overrun then they do have the option to extend their stay at Wembley for an extra year.
