Trevor Birch to Leave EFL at the End of the Season

The EFL have announced that Trevor Birch will stop down at CEO of the EFL at the end of 2026/27 season. 

Since taking up the role of EFL in January 2021Birch has led the organisation through a period of change and sustained growth. Trevor will remain in post throughout next season, working alongside the Board, Clubs and Executive team as plans are put in place for the next phase of the League’s leadership.

Trevor Birch said: “It has been a privilege to serve as Chief Executive of the EFL. With one more season ahead, my focus is on supporting the League, our Clubs and colleagues, and ensuring a smooth and orderly transition to new leadership.”

EFL Chair Rick Parry said: “Trevor has led the EFL with clarity and commitment during an important period for the League. The Board is thankful for his contribution and fully supports the approach being taken to ensure an orderly handover and continued stability in the 12 months ahead.”
