Wales boss Chris Coleman rejects move to Swansea City

It has been widely reported in Wales that national team boss, Chris Coleman is set to reject a bid from Swansea city to become their new boss.

The Swans had made Coleman their number one target as they stepped up their hunt for Bob Bradley's successor

It is understood that Coleman wants to press on with trying to lead Wales to Russia 2018. Coleman's plan after that will be to manage a club abroad, preferably in the Uefa Champions League.

Ryan Giggs, another leading contender, also appears to be out of the running. He missed out to Bradley nearly three months ago and it seems the interest in him has cooled this time as well.

With Coleman also seemingly out of the equation it means the Swans will have to move to look elsewhere

Paul Clement, former Real Madrid No.2 and who is assistant to Carlo Ancelotti at Bayern Munich, has emerged as another contender. He was previously considered before Bradley’s appointment and made a positive impression.

A flurry of bets were placed on Clement throughout the UK during Thursday and his odds with the bookmakers were slashed from 25-1 to 7-2 joint favourite.

Harry Redknapp and Alan Pardew, who have proven Premier League experience, are said to have made contact with the Swans and are two further options. Former Birmingham boss Gary Rowett is another under consideration.

The Club have suggested a replacement will be in place for the game with Crystal Palace next week which could be a critical relegation decider.
