Watford return to Premier League after win at Brighton

Watford clinched promotion to the Premier League after they beat Brighton and other results went their way.

The Hornets won 2-0 in their lunchtime kick-off at the Amex Stadium, then saw Championship promotion rivals Middlesbrough and Norwich both drop points later in the day.

They secured their fifth-successive victory thanks to goals from Troy Deeney and Matej Vydra.

Watford are four points clear of third-placed Boro with one game to go.

The other results ensured Slavisa Jokanovic's side are back in the top flight after an eight-year absence.

Middlesbrough were beaten 4-3 in a dramatic finish at Craven Cottage - in a fame where they fought back from 3-1 to 3-3. At that stage Norwich were also winning at Rotherham. But the Championship strugglers salvaged a late point.

It all came good for Watford who can lift the title by beating Sheffield Wednesday at Vicarage Road a week on Sunday - May 3rd.
