West Ham, Burnley or Everton could get extra Europa League spot thanks to fair play
The Premier League is set to be given an extra place in next season's Europa League competition due to England's placing in Uefa's Fair Play table.
England finished second in the table, earning an extra spot in the first qualifying round which will take place before the start of next season.
England's three current Europa League spots go to the fifth and sixth placed teams in the Premier League, as well as the winner of the FA Cup.
However, with Arsenal all but guaranteed a Champions League place, should they win the FA Cup, the extra Europa League spot would go to the team in seventh place.
That extra place given will go to the team that tops the Premier League's fair play rankings, which is currently Liverpool.
However they are already set to qualify via their league position, therefore West Ham, Everton or Burnley could take the spot.
They are the highest ranked sides who do not currently occupy a European spot, with three games left in the Premier League calender to assert their positions in the fair play league.
The way fair play is calculated dictates that points are removed from teams for the number of yellow and red cards they receive, how positively they play, their respect towards opponents and the referee and how their club staff behave.
