Wigan Athletic appoint Paul Cook as manager

Wigan Athletic have appointed Paul Cook as manager after he agreed a three-year-contract with the club and Wigan agreed a compensation package with Portsmouth.

Cook had a year left on his deal at Portsmouth but has decided on a new challenge after guiding Portsmouth to the League 2 title.

Portsmouth had offered a lucrative new contract but Cook but he has opted to join one of his former clubs, Wigan.

Assistant Manager Leam Richardson has moved with Cook at Wigan.
