Women's Super League Spring Series to be shown on BBC

The BBC has bought the exclusive rights to the Women's Super League (WSL) One Spring Series.

The Spring Series a is a one-off transitional competition ahead of the move from a summer season to a winter season for the WSL for the 2017/18 season.

BBC will show the WSL live on its online platforms and BBC 2 will have a highlights magazine called The Women's Football Show. Some of the matches will also broadcast the various BBC radio channels.

"It's a really positive step that the BBC are streaming FA WSL games for the first time," said Katie Brazier, FA head of women's leagues and competitions. "Clubs also have more opportunities to stream their games through their own channels.

Brazier added: "It demonstrates that the domestic women's game is in a really healthy place and we're looking forward to a season of great football and big crowds."

The first match that will be shown on the BBC as part of the agreement will be the between newly promoted Yeovil Town and Liverpool on 23rd April.
