Premier League Clubs to honour Pele

Premier League clubs will wear black armbands and hold a minute’s applause before games in honour of Pele, following his death on Thursday at the age of 82.

Clubs will also be encouraged to pay tribute to the Brazilian on big screens.

Fulham are looking at a way of incorporating Pele into their planned, extensive tribute to club legend and World Cup winner George Cohen ahead of their game with Southampton on Friday (30th).

The days other game will see a tribute at Anfield ahead of the match with Leicester City.

Tributes have poured in from around the World for the Brazilian legend. He is the only player to have won three World Cup winners medals (1958, 1962, 1970) and apart from a brief spell in the USA at the end of his career, played in his home country for Santos.

His amazing haul of 1,279 goals in 1,363 games, which included friendlies, is recognised as a Guinness World Record.

He scored a remarkable 77 goals in 92 games for the national team - a record equalled by Neymar at the recent World Cup in Qatar.

The Brazilian government have declared three days of national mourning to mark Pele's passing.
