AFC Bournemouth Set to Announce New Stadium Plans

AFC Bournemouth is set to present its redevelopment plans for the Vitality Stadium to the public during an exhibition event on 21st July.

The Premier League club states that it will set out the “exciting project vision and the timeline for expansion.”

The proposals will increase the ground’s capacity beyond its current 11,300, as well as improving facilities for spectators, players, visitors and staff, the club said.

Fans and members of the public can visit the exhibition from between 3:30pm and 8pm on the date to speak to club staff about the stadium plans.

“The plans will explain the Club’s ambition to significantly expand spectator capacity, improve the matchday experience and provide the supporting infrastructure required for modern football stadia,” read a club statement.

“Feedback from local residents and the public will help shape the proposals and inform how the Club can continue to support the communities that are an important part of the AFC Bournemouth success story.

“The expansion and improvement of the stadium represents a major milestone in the club’s history and its stated journey to be a top performing club in the Premier League.

“The stadium acquisition closely follows the launch of the club’s new Performance Centre in March, continuing a trend of significant investment in facilities to improve both player development and the supporter experience.”

The plans are expected to feature an increase on the current capacity of 11,307, which makes it the smallest stadium in the Premier League.

Earlier this year, AFC Bournemouth agreed a deal to reacquire Vitality Stadium after it was sold to property company Structadene in 2005 for £3.5m.

The Cherries’ owner Bill Foley said at the time that he is planning to expand the ground to between 20,000 and 23,000 seats in the next two-and-a-half years.
