Everton Sell Women’s Team to Club’s Parent Company
Everton have sold their women’s team to their parent
company, Roundhouse Capital Holdings, in a move designed to strengthen the
club’s financial position under the Premier League’s Profitability and
Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Roundhouse Capital Holdings, owned by American businessman
Dan Friedkin, took control of the club in December 2024. The sale of the
women's team allows it to operate as a standalone entity capable of attracting
minority investment, while also enabling the men’s team to record the
transaction as revenue—an important factor in Everton’s ongoing efforts to meet
PSR thresholds.
Under current rules, Premier League clubs cannot post losses
exceeding £105 million over a three-year period. Everton have previously been
docked points for breaching these limits in both the 2021-22 and 2022-23
seasons.
No sale figure has been publicly disclosed, but the
transaction follows similar financial restructuring by Chelsea and Aston Villa,
who also sold their women's teams to parent companies to ease PSR pressure.
Chelsea’s deal, reportedly worth nearly £200 million, later attracted Reddit
co-founder Alexis Ohanian, who acquired a minority stake.
Everton Women finished eighth in the 2024-25 Women’s Super
League, reached the fifth round of the FA Cup, and exited the League Cup at the
group stage.
