Newport County removed from FIFA transfer ban list

Newport County are no longer subject to a transfer ban imposed by the world governing body, FIFA.

The Exiles were added to FIFA’s Registration Ban List on 30 May, reportedly due to a dispute over a compensation payment which the club maintains has already been settled with another English Football League (EFL) club concerning an academy player.

As a result, Newport were temporarily unable to carry out any new player transactions. However, the club described the matter as "a minor administration dispute with FIFA", and stated it would be "settled shortly".

The League Two side – now under the management of David Hughes – have since been removed from the list, allowing them to resume their transfer activity.
