Shawbury United to get home ground after landowner donation

Shawbury United will finally have a home venue of their own, after a donation from local landowner Gerard Verdino.

The land has been donated to the West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division club to create a purpose-built sports facility. With a 99-year lease, the club’s committee have begun a fundraising appeal to raise the money needed to create the facility for the local community.

The facility will feature five football pitches, a training area and future clubhouse. The senior team for the Shropshire club have been playing at Ludlow Stadium, while their junior teams are currently playing at multiple sites across the village.

The club say they are also seeking any interested prospective sponsors for the project.
