The Danish Men’s National Team Honours Women’s EURO Squad with Kit Tribute

When Denmark faces Northern Ireland at Parken Stadium tomorrow (7th June), the Danish national team will step onto the pitch wearing a very special kit – the new EURO jersey designed for the women’s national team. The gesture serves as a supportive tribute to the women’s team ahead of their participation in this summer’s European Championship in Switzerland.

In early May, the Danish Football Association (DBU) and long-time kit sponsor hummel unveiled the new EURO jersey that the Danish women’s national team will be wearing at the tournament in Switzerland.

But on 7th June,  you won’t be seeing Pernille Harder, Stine Ballisager or Frederikke Thøgersen in the jersey. Instead, it’ll be Rasmus Højlund, Morten Hjulmand and Joakim Mæhle. In a symbolic gesture of unity and support, the Danish national team will wear the women’s EURO kit during an international friendly against Northern Ireland at Parken Stadium.

With this initiative, DBU and hummel aim to spotlight the spirit of togetherness and mutual respect that defines Danish football.

“We’re proud to let the Danish men’s national team play in the women’s EURO jersey. It’s a powerful symbol of unity and of the shared pride we feel for all our national teams. The Danish women’s national team has inspired the country with their performances, and this gesture sends a clear message: we stand shoulder to shoulder – across gender and across teams,” says Birgitte Mabeck, Chief Commercial Officer at DBU.

The new EURO jersey is clean and simple with strong roots in Danish design tradition and Danish football heritage. It’s made with a focus on simplicity, aesthetics, and national pride – celebrating both the football heroes of the past and those yet to come.

“The new national team jersey is made to carry the pride of Denmark – for both women and men on the pitch and among fans. Seeing the Danish men’s national team wear it as a tribute to the women’s team is a strong symbol of the unity that defines Danish football. We hope it won’t just be a special gesture at Parken Stadium, but also the beginning of a summer where our national teams once again bring the country together and fill it with excitement,” says Morten Lund, Marketing Director at hummel.
