Andrew McKinlay Appointed Vice President of the Scottish FA
Andrew McKinlay has been formally appointed as Vice
President of the Scottish Football Association after serving in the role on an
interim basis.
The Heart of Midlothian chief executive was appointed
interim vice president by the Scottish FA board following the resignation of
Les Gray last year and has now been confirmed in the position.
McKinlay brings extensive experience within the national
governing body. He has previously held roles as chief operating officer,
director of governance and regulation, and interim chief executive of the
Scottish FA. More recently, he joined the board as the SPFL representative from
the Professional Game Board and currently sits on the association’s Audit and
Risk Committee.
Speaking after his appointment, McKinlay said he was
grateful to the membership for placing their trust in him after almost 15 years
of involvement with the Scottish FA and Scottish football more broadly.
He highlighted the direction set by president Mike Mulraney
and the board, pointing to initiatives such as Pitching In and Extra Time, the
continued development of the girls’ and women’s game, and the importance of
leaving a lasting legacy following successive qualifications for men’s UEFA
European Championships and the FIFA World Cup.
McKinlay added that he is looking forward to supporting
those objectives alongside his board colleagues, member clubs and the
association’s executive team.
