BBC and ITV to Broadcast 2027 Women’s World Cup Free-to-Air in the UK
The BBC and ITV will jointly broadcast the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, securing free-to-air access to the tournament for UK audiences.
The broadcasters will split live coverage of the group and knockout stage matches, with both set to air the final. The agreement ensures that the largest event in women’s football remains available to all UK viewers without a paywall.
BBC director of sport Alex Kay-Jelski said the deal extends the corporation’s long-standing support for the women’s game. “BBC Sport has been a longstanding champion of women’s football, helping to elevate the game to where it is today – a sport experiencing unprecedented growth,” he said.
BBC coverage will be available on TV, iPlayer, BBC Sport online, and across radio and social media. ITV will also provide live TV broadcasts, digital coverage via ITVX, and all of England’s qualifiers and friendlies in the lead-up to the tournament.
ITV’s director of sport Niall Sloane added: “The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 is sure to be another standout tournament and we look forward to continuing our relationship with both FIFA and the BBC.”
The 32-team competition kicks off on 24 June 2027 and concludes with the final on 27 July. Spain are the defending champions after defeating England 1-0 in the 2023 final.
