Championship fixtures announced but Derby face anxious wait over potential relegation

The fixtures for the upcoming Championship season have been announced, but all eyes are on the future of Derby County.

The Rams have been fined £100,000 for discrepancies in their accounting policy, which could also lead to a potential points deduction which would retroactively relegate them based on last season's points tally.

Should this occur the EFL have said that Derby and Wycombe, who occupied the final relegation spot last season, have exchangeable schedules should they end up swapping divisions, with a home game against Huddersfield their opening fixture.

Relegated West Brom, looking for their sixth promotion to the Premier League, take on Bournemouth, who were denied an instant return to the top flight by Brentford in the play-off semi-finals.

Fellow relegated sides Sheffield United and Fulham start their campaigns at home against Birmingham and Middlesbrough respectively.

All three promoted sides face away trips in their opening fixtures, with Hull City, who bounced straight back to the Championship from League One last season, playing Preston, whilst Blackpool play Bristol City and Peterborough face Luton.
