FA Women’s National League Launches New Strategy to Drive Growth
The FA Women’s National League (FA WNL) has unveiled its new three-year strategy, Where Our Game Grows, which will guide the competition from 2025 to 2028.
The plan, backed by continued investment from the Premier League, sets out four key priorities aimed at strengthening both the league and the wider women’s football pyramid:
- Environment – raising standards on and off the pitch and enhancing league delivery.
- People – creating inclusive pathways and improving support for players, referees, coaches and staff.
- Impact – boosting visibility, engaging communities, and increasing the profile of the WNL.
- Commercial – building sustainability through partnerships and stronger financial models.
The strategy builds on the success of the league’s previous framework, Empowering for Success, which saw average attendances double since 2021 and the introduction of minimum standards across clubs.
FA WNL chair Sue Hough said: “We saw sustained growth throughout the previous strategy but now it’s time to step things up. The Women’s National League is where our game grows – the connection between the professional game and grassroots players.”
Nick Frith, Head of the Women’s Football Pyramid at The FA, added: “The next three years will be about raising standards on and off the pitch, supporting clubs to unlock new revenue streams, and ensuring the league remains sustainable and inclusive.”
