Morecambe First Team Halt Operations Amid Ongoing Uncertainty

Morecambe FC’s first team have suspended all football activities as uncertainty over the club’s future deepens.

The National League suspended the Shrimps until 20 August due to non-compliance with league regulations. The club’s insurance has also lapsed following a missed payment, forcing the first team to cease operations entirely.

London-based investment group Panjab Warriors, who have been in takeover talks with owner Jason Whittingham for over a year, said they are still “ready, willing and able” to complete the purchase. However, the deal has not yet been finalised.

In a joint statement, Panjab Warriors, minority shareholders, the Shrimps Trust, and local MP Lizzi Collinge urged the current ownership to complete the sale, warning that the situation is rapidly deteriorating.

“As a result, more first-team players have left the club, with further departures expected by the end of the week,” the statement said.
