New Owners of Eccleshill United Confirmed

Keighley Cougars co-owners Ryan O’Neill and Kaue Garcia have officially acquired Eccleshill United Football Club, marking a significant expansion of their community-focused sporting vision in the town.

The acquisition brings football under the Cougars’ umbrella and establishes Cougar Park as a shared venue for both rugby league and football. As announced earlier this year, Eccleshill United will now play their home fixtures at the ground, beginning with a historic clash against Tadcaster Albion on Wednesday 6 August (7:45pm kick-off).

Commenting on the deal, Kaue Garcia said the aim was to go beyond a simple landlord-tenant arrangement:
“We felt it was important to create an integrated sporting strategy for the benefit of the town. We take seriously our responsibility as custodians of a sports organisation and look forward to building strong relationships with players, staff, and the community.”

Outgoing Eccleshill United chairwoman Sally Smith-Butler praised the transition, saying:
“It’s been a pleasure working with Ryan and Kaue throughout the sale process. I’m confident in their commitment to the club’s future and will continue to support them during this period.”

In a statement, the Cougars said the move reflects their long-term commitment to Keighley:
“With both clubs now under one stewardship, we’re focused on community engagement, youth development, and sporting excellence.”

Fans are encouraged to turn out for Eccleshill’s debut home match at Cougar Park and show their support for this new chapter in local sport.
